How your $20 works

Small gifts, pooled, add up to a seat at the table.

  1. You join

Members give $20 a year or more. 25 memberships add up to $500, the size of a typical contribution to a legislator who champions our students.

  2. Trustees choose champions

SEA-PAC's Board of Trustees backs legislators who have stood up for special education funding and services.

  3. We report every dollar

Every contribution goes on our public quarterly report to the Illinois State Board of Elections once the check is cashed, and into our updates to the IAASE Governing Board.

How we decide

We support legislators of either party who champion students with disabilities. SEA-PAC's Board of Trustees votes on every contribution.

Take action

Your voice counts as much as your dollars.

Legislators listen to the people who run special education in their districts. Advocacy is free, and anyone can do it.

Introduce yourself to your legislators.

A short note from a local leader carries real weight. Tell them how many students your district serves and what special education funding pays for. Send it from your personal email, on your own time. When a bill needs you, our session alerts carry the one ask that matters most.

Get session alerts

About four short emails a year: session alerts when a bill needs you, plus SEA-PAC news. Please use a personal address, not a school account.

Paid for by SEA-PAC Illinois.

Where your money goes

Seven legislators who champion special education.

Every contribution our trustees approved in 2025 and 2026. We add each legislator's name after the November 3, 2026 election. Until then, each row shows the chamber.

Questions

Good to know before you join.

Is my membership tax-deductible?

No. SEA-PAC is a political committee, so contributions are not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes.

I work for a school district. Can I join?

Yes, as a private citizen. Join with your own money, from your personal email and your own device, on your own time. Illinois school districts must have an ethics policy that bars employees from political activity during paid work time or with district property. If you are unsure, check your district's policy.

Can my district give, or can I use a school card or account?

No. Never use a district card, account, or email to give.

I'm already a member. Do I need to do anything?

If you joined with a card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay and chose auto-renew, you are set. Your Givebutter receipt has a link to change or cancel. If you paid with Venmo, please rejoin each year, because Venmo payments do not renew on their own. Not sure if you are current, or need to update your address? Email support@seapacil.com and we will check.

Where is my receipt, and how do I change or cancel?

Givebutter emails a receipt as soon as you join. Use the link in it to change or cancel, or email support@seapacil.com and we will do it for you.

Who decides where the money goes?

SEA-PAC's Board of Trustees votes on every contribution. See "How we decide" above.

I'm a legislator or on a legislator's staff. How do I reach SEA-PAC?

SEA-PAC Illinois is the political action committee of Illinois special education leaders, affiliated with IAASE. Our Chair is Jon Malone. Email support@seapacil.com. Illinois State Board of Elections Committee ID: 7464.
